"API has been way too unreliable"
I’ve been using the here API for maps and routing, and it’s been frustrating. Some days the response times are fine, then out of nowhere it gets super slow or starts throwing errors with no obvious reason. That part was weird because nothing on our end had changed.
The docs haven’t always lined up with what actually happens either, so debugging ends up taking way longer than it should. Support does reply, but the answers haven’t been very useful. For what it costs, I expected it to be a lot more stable, and I probably wouldn’t choose it again.

"I like using it, but I’m not super..."
I like using it, but I’m not super sure how safe my information really is. The privacy side just feels a little sketchy to me, and I wish it was clearer about what’s being collected and how it’s used

"Pretty accurate, but I wish it caught newer spots"
Overall, the geocoding has been accurate for most addresses I’ve tried. I do regret relying on it a few times for newer places, though, because it didn’t always pick them up. It works well most of the time, but the gaps with new locations can be frustrating

"Docs were a bit confusing to follow"
I ended up getting stuck with the docs. A few of the examples didn’t work as written, and the auth section kept sending me around in circles instead of giving me a clear path forward. If you’re setting this up, my advice is to double-check the examples against the latest version and maybe search the community threads before spending too much time troubleshooting on your own

"I can’t find anything quickly on this..."
I can’t find anything quickly on this thing. Everything feels buried or laid out in the most confusing way possible. Whoever runs this really needs to clean it up because using it is just frustrating...

"I’ve used Here.com a few times now..."
I’ve used Here.com a few times now, and it keeps sending me on some really odd routes, lol. It even misses faster roads that I literally use every day. One trip ended up taking about 20 minutes longer for no good reason. I’d probably avoid relying on it if I were in a hurry.

"I was really hoping for more flexible..."
I was really hoping for more flexible billing options, but it felt like they were mostly pushing the annual plan. I get that it might work for some people, but for me, paying upfront for a whole year was just NOT ideal.

"Some of the roads and shops around..."
Some of the roads and shops around me are still showing old info, which is frustrating. I’ve reported fixes before too, but it takes foreverrrr for anything to actually update. Just doesn’t feel super reliable right now.

"I tried working with the SDK and..."
I tried working with the SDK and it was way more frustrating than it needed to be. The docs didn’t really help much and just made things more confusing. Felt like I was spending more time figuring out basic stuff than actually building anything.

"Support eventually fixed it, but it was a hassle"
I ran into a problem with my HERE account where the maps just weren’t loading properly, like blank areas, missing tiles, weird refresh issues, that kind of thing. I reached out to support thinking it would be a quick fix, but it took a few days to hear back, which was frustrating when I was already trying things on my own like refreshing, logging out, switching browsers, clearing cache, checking my connection, all of that.
When they finally replied, the answer felt really generic, almost like a copied checklist. They suggested stuff I had already mentioned trying, like basic browser steps and account checks, so I had to explain the issue again with the same details, the same screenshots, the same “yes, I already tried that” kind of responses. It felt like they weren’t really reading what I’d sent the first time.

To be fair, the issue did get fixed in the end, so it wasn’t a complete disaster. But it took way more back and forth than it should have, with examples, screenshots, repeated explanations, and a lot of waiting in between. Not the worst support I’ve ever had, but definitely not a smooth or especially helpful experience

"Harder to integrate than I expected"
I tried using here.com for a small maps project, i expected the setup to be straightforward. For something that seemed like it should be a quick plug-in-and-go situation, it ended up being way more frustrating than I planned for.
The docs felt scattered, and a lot of the examples didn’t line up with what I was actually trying to do. I kept hitting errors that weren’t explained clearly, so I spent hours just trying to get the basic pieces working.
Maybe it makes more sense if you’re on a bigger team with time to dig into everything, but as a solo dev trying to move fast, it really didn’t meet my expectations. I eventually gave up and went with another option.

"Be careful, the pricing is really unclear"
I tried to get a straight answer on what this would actually cost, and it was way more confusing than it should be. The plans, limits, and extra details felt buried across too many pages, and I kept feeling like I was missing something important. I really don’t like having to contact sales just to find out what I might end up paying. If you’re considering this, I’d definitely double-check everything before getting too far in.

"Kind of regret signing up"
I reached out to support twice about a billing problem i’m still no closer to fixing it. The first response took days, and the second one felt like a copy-paste reply from someone who didn’t really read what I wrote. For a service this big, I expected way better. At this point I’m just frustrated and kind of regretting paying for it in the first place.

"Not much room to tweak things"
I messed around with here.com for a simple map setup, it just felt kind of limited. I was trying to change things like the style, labels, and general layout, but it was more annoying than I expected. Some of the stuff I assumed I could adjust either wasn’t there or was buried somewhere. The docs helped a little, I guess, but not enough to make it smooth. It’s probably okay if you just need a basic map, but if you want it to feel a bit more custom, it gets frustrating fast. Wasn’t really worth the time for me.

"I’ve only really used it around my..."
I’ve only really used it around my area, so maybe it’s different elsewhere, but the maps are usually right for me. There was one spot where it showed a turn that wasn’t actually there, which was annoying, but most addresses and roads seem accurate.

"Downtime keeps messing up my workday"
I’ve been using Here for work, and lately the downtime has been driving me nuts. I’ll plan to get something done, block out time for it, and then pages won’t load or the whole platform just freezes right when I need it. It’s ruined a few work plans because I end up sitting there refreshing instead of actually finishing anything. Support keeps saying they’re working on it, but it keeps happening. At this point, it just doesn’t feel reliable enough.

"Am I the only one who found it tough for enterprise use?"
Am I the only one who expected Here.com to handle larger team usage a bit better? We tried rolling it out across a few teams, but once usage picked up, the performance started getting messy. Support wasn’t terrible, but the replies were slow and felt kind of generic, like they weren’t really digging into our setup. Getting everything configured also took way more effort than we planned for. I can see it working fine for smaller projects, but for what we needed at an enterprise level, it just wasn’t the right fit.

"Coverage felt patchier than I expected"
I thought the coverage was going to be solid because, on paper, it looks like it covers a ton. But actually using it was a different story. Some places I needed just weren’t there, or the info seemed kind of old, like roads and business listings that didn’t quite match what was actually around.
It was especially noticeable once I got outside the bigger cities. It kept feeling like... okay, maybe it works well in certain areas, but not really everywhere like it makes it sound. I ended up double-checking things on Google Maps most of the time anyway, so for me it just wasn’t really worth dealing with.

"Traffic updates always seem too late"
The real-time traffic just doesn’t feel accurate. It keeps sending me straight into jams that have clearly been there for a while, and then it tries to reroute me after I’m already stuck. What’s the point of traffic updates if they don’t help until it’s too late? I wouldn’t rely on this for a daily commute...
